WASHINGTON- The A.U. Student Government Board of Elections, in a 5-0-0 decision, has found the AU for SA campaign not responsible for the charges brought against them.

In a BOE hearing on January 25th, Alexander Hitchcock filed several charges against Joe Ste. Marie, campaign manager for AU for SA. Included in those charges were two counts of Class 2 violations, one count of a Class 4 violation, and two counts of a Class 5 violation.

“The BOE has never seen a Class 5 violation before, so a hearing was necessary,” said Chair of the BOE, Chloe Profit.

After these allegations were reported, the BOE put a stay on the AU for SA campaign until they released their decision

“…the board noted a complete lack of evidence but had their evidence of seeking an endorsement before campaigning started, the ten hour stay that was placed on the campaign would have been a substantial punishment and no further punishment would have been granted,” stated BOE Decision 12-13-001.

The Board found that there was an absence of evidence and thus disposed of the charges. The stay has since been lifted and campaigning has resumed.
