Amnesty Policy
If you report, experience, or witness harassment, sexual misconduct, hazing, or a medical emergency while intoxicated or under the influence of drugs or alcohol, you may be granted amnesty from any related drug or alcohol policy conduct charges.
The Amnesty Policy empowers students to fully and transparently engage in university investigations or adjudicative processes.

2022
On November 11th, 2022, over 500 students protested on the quad in response to the prevalence of sexual violence on our campus. The organizers of the protest garnered over 1,000 signatures on a demand letter that laid out five actions the university could take to better support survivors of sexual violence. One of those demands was for the implementation of an Amnesty Policy.
2023
Students bring the demands to university-created Community Working Group (CWG) to address sexual violence. On February 22nd, students, including an AUSG senator, organized a protest to provoke productivity in the CWG. The Student Government forms a committee on combatting sexual violence, which discusses policy changes, including the Amnesty Policy with the Office of Equity and Title IX. On March 26th, the Undergraduate Senate unanimously passed the Survivor Bill of Rights, calling for implementing an amnesty policy. During the May 2023 Board of Trustees meeting, the Survivor Bill of Rights was reported on by the student government. In Fall 2023, student government discusses the implementation of the Survivor Bill of Rights and an Amnesty Policy with the VP of Student Affairs. In November, students organized an anniversary protest, and the university committed to implementing the Survivor Bill of Rights within the year.
2024
Student Government meets with the Dean of Students and General Counsel a number of times to draft a statement of survivor rights that includes an Amnesty Policy. April, the VP of Student Affairs notifies student government that the policy drafting process of the Amnesty Policy had begun. In November, Student Government is sent the draft policy for review and provides countless points of feedback, and students host the 3rd annual anniversary protest.
February 3rd, 2025: The Amnesty Policy is implemented.

Lays out prohibited conduct, adjudicative procedures, as well as the 12 rights afforded to students that are engaging with the Student Code of Conduct office.

Lays out the restrictions on types of expression and protections for expression. Describes the policies related to expression in classrooms, for speakers, and for protests.
